West Virgina Backpack Mission
Each year the Hickory Grove Church family participates in the Eastern Baptist Association's West Virginia backpack ministry. This mission effort supports one of the most impoverished areas in the United States by delivering backpacks filled with toys, school supplies, blankets, coats, Bibles and other necessities to children in West Virginia. The backpacks are delivered during the Christmas Season. This year the Hickory Grove family filled over 200 backpacks and several members joined in the drive to West Virginia and were on site while the backpacks were handed out.
Outreach to Falcon Children's Home
Our youth partnered with and led a 4 day VBS for the residents of FCH. The church collected supplies from the FCH wish list and the youth delivered the supplies during the VBS week.
Children's Mission Days
Several times a year our children participate in a mission day. These days may include working at the Charity Rebuild Center, clean up days at a Baptist Children's Home, or delivering cheer packages to local nursing homes..
Youth and Adult Missions
Each summer our youth and adults participate in a week long mission trip. These trips combine construction projects with ministry opportunities. Recent trips have taken our mission teams to Charlotte, NC, Knoxville, TN, and Asheville, NC. Locally our teams have torn off and rebuilt a deck for one of our church members as well as clean up projects at the church and in the community..
Mission Offerings
Hickory Grove participates in the Southern Baptist Convention Mission Offerings. These include the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions, the Annie Armstrong Offering for North American Missions, and the N.C State Missions Offering,
Women on Mission
Our Women on Missions group is open to all. It spearheads several projects over the course of the year. Types of projects Women on Mission has led include the collectionof school supplies for our local school district, donations for the flooding victims in western NC, and greeting cards for nursing homes. The possibilities are endless. Current committee leaders are Jenny Williamson, Jennifer Naylor, and Jane Tew. Join us in planning ways to impact our community for Christ.
Fall Festival
Each October the church hosts a Fall Festival for the community. This past year we partnered with Hubb's Farm to serve as the venue. This allowed to expand and open the festival to a broader audience. This festival serves as an opportunity to intersect with families that are not currently churched and invite them to join us at Hickory Grove.
