A message from our Pastor:
At Hickory Grove, there is a chorus that we often sing in our worship services that begins with the words, "I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God". Indeed, one of the great benefits of knowing Jesus Christ personally as Lord and Savior is the privilege of being counted as a member of His body through the local church. It is truly an amazing thing that we can discover so much diversity and differences of opinion represented among us as individuals; yet there is a sacred unity that binds us all together around what matters most, our mutual love for Christ.
As we continue seeking to live in God's plan for our church in future days, may the unity of purpose from the early church in Acts be our guide. The Bible says of those first disciples of Jesus, "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer......Now all the believers were together and held all things in common.......praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved." Our prayer is that it would be said of our church family, that we have a similar heart as that of the disciples in the early church, to love the Lord and all the people He places among us and around us.
In our future days at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, let us continue living in the joy of the final words of that old hymn; knowing that collectively as a church family we are "joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod, for we're part of the family, the family of God."
